HANDMADE GAME, PROGRESS SHOTS. 2017

MY GAME 'ESCAPE' WAS CREATED WITH THE SOLE INTENTION OF BEING IMPOSSIBLE TO COMPLETE. THE MAZE THAT IS VISIBLE ONLY DURING THE CREATION PROCESS, WAS ENTIRELY BORDERED BY IMPENETRABLE BLOCKS, THE LICHENS THAT YOUR PLAYER HAD TO COLLECT WERE HIDDEN ALL OVER THE MAP, THE LAKES TRANSPORTED YOU ACROSS THE MAP ALIKE TO A NON-EUCLIDEAN WORLD SO THAT YOU COULD NOT GATHER WHERE YOU WERE, THE 263 LICHENS PLACED WERE ALSO OUTSIDE OF THE MAZE UNABLE TO COLLECT, I RANDOMISED THE SHADOWS SO THAT WHEN THE PLAYER REACHED ONE IT MAY OR MAY NOT REVERSE ALL INPUT FROM THE PLAYER AND TRAVEL IN ANY DIRECTION AND I DISABLED THE 'CTRL - ESC' FEATURE IN ORDER TO EXIT THE GAME. IT NEVER ENDED. ALL OF THE TEXTURES WERE CREATED FROM MY HANDMADE FELTS AND THE INESCAPABLE ASPECT OF THE GAME WAS DEVISED TO REFLECT MY FEELINGS AND BATTLES WITH MENTAL HEALTH. EVERY FEATURE OF THIS GAME WAS CREATED BY MYSELF FROM SCRATCH WITH NO PRE-MADE ASPECTS OR HELP.

THIS WORK WAS EXHIBITED IN THE SPEAK YOUR MIND CHARITY EXHIBITION AT THE BALTIC MARKET, LIVERPOOL IN APRIL 2019.
